Where to fish around the
River Suck
A river with a great reputation. The mid section, from Glinsk to Mount Talbot is wide, very deep and slow-moving. In places you will find swims of 25ft depth. The river provides excellent coarse fishing and has produced pike up to 40lb! Species present are roach, hybrids, bream, perch and eels.
There are many stillwaters along the Suck
Holygrove Lake is 50 acres of fairly shallow water, typically 5 ft deep but with two deep veins providing quality bank fishing. Tench, up to 7lb, make an appearance during the hours of darkness. There is a new access road, good parking space, 8 angling spaces to complement the 4 space angling stand.
Custom built, wheelchair friendly, venue
The Shannon Regional Fisheries Board have built 30 ‘state of the art’ fishing stands on the banks of the Suck at Donamon, providing dedicated parking spaces and ramps with raised sides, making access to fishing sport easier, for disabled anglers. This river section is one of the most beautiful spots, it is of fairly even depth and can produce particularly good fishing for renowned species.
Other fisheries are Stonehams, Loughs Loung and Doo, Blacks Lake and so many smaller rivers.
