Gwencol B&B, run by Andy and Emma MacFarlane, is purposely designed for fisherman and caters for seven to eight anglers. It is set on the edge of the Cavan lakelands, overlooking Lough Sheelin. With easy access to all the major angling centres including over 300 lakes and miles of unspoilt stretches of the river Inny and the Erne.
The local lakes, comprising Lough Sheelin, Cavan's premiere pike and game fishery, and Lough Kinale (Ireland's hybrid record holding + specimen Bream and Tench water), comprising three large lakes, also Loughs Lacken, Ramor, Bracklaugh, Corglass and Kill, plus several smaller lakes, all of which carry an excellent stock of Pike, Bream, Roach, Rudd, Tench, Perch and hybrids. Gwencol is only (10 min) 7 miles from the Lough Gowna complex with its massive shoals of bream and hybrids.
Boats are available with fishfinders if trolling for pike or fishing for trout is your style, or Andy, a mad keen coarse and pike angler, can take you out coarse fishing to one of his preselected and prebaited swims. Bait can be ordered from Gwencol, and kept in its tackle store with bait fridges, for you on arrival. Tackle and bait is also available locally. 3 miles from the nearest golf course. |
