M.V. 'White Seahorse'
A 36ft Bullet with 300hp Ford engine owned by The Helm. The 'White Seahorse' is fully fitted with modern safety and navigational aids and is certified by the Department of Marine. They specialise in searching out big fish. Skate are the quarry, our picture shows a 170 pounder, one of five taken on the same day!

In '98, the White Seahorse boated a huge 180lb common skate by a member of the Northern Bank Sea Angling Club, from Ulster.

Here on the Atlantic coast, Ireland has one of its finest fishing areas. Clew Bay, with hundreds of islands breaking the water surface, providing a hiding place to fish in all but the worst weather. A few miles out from the bay lies Clare Island. Here the fishing is more rugged, in many ways matching the tremendous seascape that County Mayo provides as a backdrop to a day's angling.

Westport has a reputation for hosting many International Sea Angling Festivals over many years and it rarely fails to produce a huge skate or large, squat monkfish for the contestants. Westport skippers operate a conservation policy. Skate, monkfish, tope and bullhuss are weighed, photographed and returned to the sea. Without doubt this far-sighted policy has helped to maintain the quality of Clew Bay sea angling.

Clew Bay Hotel, James Street, Westport
A newly refurbished, family run hotel in the heart of Westport, a bustling market town. All 52 bedrooms are ensuite with a host of facilities including multi-channel TV, hairdryer, trouser press, telephone, internet access and a complimentary beverage tray. .

Le Bistro is a classy restaurant serving seafood, traditional roasts and some continental classics.  Its stylish design is a perfect foil for the adjoining Maddens Bar.

Riverbank House, Westport, County Mayo
The guesthouse is situated 1½ miles out from Westport on the road to Louisburgh. Mrs O'Malley's spacious accommodation has 8 bedrooms, 6 en-suite and two standard. The Helm, Westport Quay
The Helm is situated on the quay-side overlooking Westport Harbour. It makes a superb base for your angling holiday. The Helm has nine luxury, 3 star apartments over the new bar and restaurant.
