M.V. 'Iolar na Mara'
M.V. 'Iolar na Mara', is skippered by Aidan Walsh. She is a 33ft Ocean Tramp.

The boats are licensed to carry 12 passengers. They have rods and tackle to hire. These craft are fully equipped with modern safety aids and the latest electronic navigational and fish finding gear. Packed lunches, bait and all special requirements are catered for. These skippers will even teach you to fish, so beginners will not be left out!

Fishing from Valentia Island
Valentia is an island adjacent to the Ring of Kerry and is reached by a bridge, at Portmagee, or via a car ferry from Renard, that operates from April - October. It's a perfect venue for both deep sea and shore anglers. The warming effect of the North Atlantic Drift , an offshoot from the Gulf Stream, heats the offshore waters providing a wide variety of marine species.

You can catch blue shark, cod, ling, conger, pollack, coalfish, skate, haddock, torsk, bullhuss and dogfish, pouting and wrasse of many species. Valentia Island still holds the record for conger, LSD, Ray's bream and red sea bream. It is a formidable sea area. Valentia can be fished in most sea conditions, should it prove impossible to head for the deepwater, there is always the huge harbour that provides many inshore varieties. The charter boats operate from Knightstown pier, tackle and bait can be obtained nearby. This is a choice fishing area and has a lot to offer with plenty to see and do in surrounding areas.

Springacre, Knightstown
An Irish Tourist Board approved Bed & Breakfast, all en-suite accommodation and just 70 metres from the pier, alongside the car ferry terminal. Close to all amenities, Springacre is five minutes walk from restaurants and the pubs.

The Ring Lyne, Chapeltown
The Ring Lyne is managed by the O'Sullivan family, serving anglers for over 30 years. There is a bar, restaurant and comfortable fully en-suite bedrooms. Bar food is served all day where steaks and seafood are a specialty. The Ring Lyne restaurant is well known locally, and the bar often hosts traditional music.  The Ring Lyne has a wonderful atmosphere and craic, with visiting anglers and local fishers exchanging fishy tales! There is a drying room, bait and freezer facilities.

Valentia Island is one of the more scenic untouched areas off the Kerry coast. It is easily accessible, with a bridge from Portmagee and a car ferry running from Knightstown between the months of April and September. It is in close proximity to the towns of Caherciveen and Waterville. The island itself has an abundance of places of interest that are sure to accommodate all tastes.

For the walker there are spectacular views from every road, whether you venture to the lighthouse to soak in the Atlantic ocean and the mouth to Valentia's Harbour or to the Grotto (formerly a slate quarry whose slate once roofed the Houses of Parliament and Commons and was used as far a field as the San Salvador Railway).

The fishing enthusiast will also be accommodated with a plentiful supply of shore-based fishing locations and deep sea angling charters.

The historian will find Valentia a gold mine with the Skellig islands just off its coast, once home to sixth century monastic settlement and the island itself with the recent finding of dinosaur footprints dating to between 350 and 370 million years old, the second oldest in the world.

Valentia Island Cottages are three well equipped traditional rural cottages with panoramic views of the sea and mountain and are located in three different areas of Valentia Island. . Each cottage, situated in a quiet peaceful location with its own garden, is fully equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, fridge, freezer, microwave and television. All cottages have oil central heating and have open fire, turf is provided free. Pets are welcome.

Dan the Masters is a 4 bedroom farmhouse that sleeps 9 people. Downstairs, there is an open plan kitchen/living area with open fire and also a double ensuite bedroom. Upstairs there are two ensuite bedrooms and a bedroom adjacent to a bathroom. Pets are welcome. Front and back garden.

Radharc na Mara is a newly refurbished stone cottage that sleeps 6. Open plan kitchen/living area with open fire. Down stairs there also two twin bedrooms and a bathroom with a bath and shower.
