Dungarvan

Dungarvan can produce excellent fishing from its offshore wrecks.  These lie between eight and ten miles seaward from the coast.  Fishing is either at anchor or on a the drift.  Dungarvan also enjoys first class reef and broken ground angling where as many as twenty species have been caught in a single day!  The wrecks lie in 140 - 250 feet of water.  Tides are not normally too strong so holding bottom is accomplished with weights of 9oz to 1lb.
Dungarvan is also one of Ireland’s Blue Shark Angling Centres. Shark fishing begins in mid-June each summer and continues until October.  All blue sharks boated are tagged and returned alive.  This an important part of the Dungarvan skipper's conservation policy.
The coastline of County Waterford is a series of sandy bays, broken by rugged headlands.  Ideal shorefishing country for bass.

The typical day has a 9.00am departure, returning to the quayside by 5.00pm, allowing some variation for local tides. Deepwater reefs and banks offer species like Whiting, Haddock, Coalfish, Bull Huss, Dogfish, Rays, Plaice, Brill, and Wrasse. The many wrecks provide heavy fish such as Ling, Conger, Pollock and Cod. If you're after something bigger try Shark, between June and October.
