Dunfanahy-Port na Blagh - Sheephaven Bay

Achill - the fishers island
Donegal has a reputation for ruggedness of land and seascape.... a wild place to be. A place for stalwart native people and hardy sea anglers. The town of Dunfanaghy nestles in the western corner of Sheephaven Bay, below the stark form of Muckish Mountain. Here the town is protected from the open ocean by Horn Head, which breaks the westerlies allowing our charter boat to get to sea at all times. The harbour, at Port na Blagh around the corner, is just a short distance away from all three of the accommodations.
Fishing out from the Donegal coast is superb, with a lengthy list of species to be sought and boated. There are cod, haddock, whiting, plaice, pollack, coalies, torsk, ling, John Dory, monkfish, red, grey and tub gurnard, hake, skate, turbot, and brill. Summer months bring the opportunity for some Blue Shark fishing too. There are huge wrecks in the vicinity, the warship 'Audacious' and two liners the 'Empire Heritage' and the 'Empress of Britain', all providing superb fishing and a record number of specimen catches! Over 100 wrecks are within in 3 hours, this is enough wrecks for anybody!
Offshore, toward Tory Island, and the smaller island of Inishbofin, the ground is well broken with a mixture clean seabed and pinnacle rock. Big fish country at its best!
