Clifden - fishing off the Connemara Coast

Clifden has first class charter boats and experienced skippers and offers some of the best fishing form this area, see below.

At 52ft long, this is Ireland's largest, most luxurious sea angling charter boat.  John Ryan specialises in shark fishing but will put you over some of the finest bottom fishing ground in Europe.  'Celtic Queen' is fully fitted with the most modern safety, navigational, and fish finding equipment. 

Two life rafts are carried plus and inflatable with outboard motor.  Life jackets, radar, GPS colour plotter, Decca Navigator, two colour fishfinders, radio telephones, stereo radio, colour TV and video.  There is also first class fishing gear, including Penn and Shimano reels, aboard.

'Celtic Queen', built of steel with aluminium superstructure and flying bridge, has two diesel engines totaling 550hp.  She has a huge deck area, a salon with very comfortable seating and a dinning table. 

Fish Caught onboard the Celtic QueenThere are two twin cabins, a separate toilet compartment with H & C water.  Hot air central heating and a generator which powers the galley utensils; electric kettle, coffee apparatus, fridge (cool beer - nice!) and a microwave

There is also a NO FISH - NO FEE policy operated.  Tea, coffee or soup is served free of charge to John's sea angling clients too.

Species regularly caught are, pollock, conger, ling, cod, coalies, dogfish, rays, skate, plaice, turbot and sharks, blues and porbeagle.

Connemara Offshore
West of Ireland scenery is magnificent and no more so than off the Connemara Coast. Imagine fishing near offshore islands, into sheltered bays while being out on the Atlantic! The North Atlantic Drift warms these waters producing spectacular fishing and the occasional exotic that drifts north on the stream. The sea is alive with wildlife, a great variety of seabirds, seal and dolphins abound.
The species regularly caught are; pollock, conger, ling, cod, coalies, dogfish, rays, skate, plaice, turbot and sharks - porbeagle and blues. John Ryan, our highly efficient skipper / owner has over 25 years experience as a sea angling charter boat skipper - so he knows his way around.

Dun Aengus House, Sky Road, Clifden
A superb guesthouse in Clifden, a beautiful part of Connemara. The view from Dun Aengus House is outstanding. It is 5 minutes walk from the town centre. This guesthouse, owned by John and Mary Ryan, has 6 spacious, en-suite bedrooms. Meals are on a bed and breakfast arrangement.
