The MV Meridian is a 40' Lochin purpose built for Sea Angling in 2000 and based at the Blackrock Pier in Killybegs, Co. Donegal, Ireland.
Brian is the owner and has over 30 years experience in charter angling.
Brian is himself a keen angler for many a year and is the current chairman of the Killybegs Sea Angling Club.
The boat leaves daily for full or half day angling charters, sight seeing trips of the Donegal bay or longer trips to the majestic cliffs of Sliabh League - the highest sea cliff in Europe.
The MV Meridian is fully equipped with the latest navigational, fish finding and safety equipment. Tea and coffee served aboard, rod and fishing tackle hire available.
The boat is powered by a 420 h.p Caterpiller engine giving her a cruising speed of 15 knots and a top speed of 19 knots and is fully licensed and insured for 12 anglers.
Smithy's Mini Charter service is specifically designed to cater for small groups of up to 6 anglers, ideal for small family groups wanting a short pleasure trip or a car load of friends out for a spontaneous fishing adventure.
Our skipper, Smith Campbell, has many years experience with fishing charters and is extremely well acquainted with the numerous fishing grounds in the area.
Smith is an active member of the Killybegs Sea Angling Club and also with the North West Charter Skippers Association.
The "Maíre Dó" (Mary 2) is P3 licensed for six passengers and crewman. The boat has a 220hp turbo-charged Mercruiser engine that pushes her along at 15 - 20 knots. There is an impressive array of wheelhouse equipment including radar, GPS, fishfinder, forward looking sonar, auto pilot, DSC Radio and trim tabs for a smooth ride, and there is also a small cooker and sink inside the wheelhouse.
Species of Fish: Cod, Pollack, Ling, Conger, Brill, Turbot, Blue Shark and now even Bluefin Tuna - the first Bluefin Tuna ever taken on rod and line in Irish waters was caught aboard the MV Suzanne (Brian's former boat) by Alan Glanville.
