Troms Explorer is based in the North Troms/Nordreisa region of Northern Norway. The city of Tromsø is the capital of the Arctic, located above the Arctic Circle. Access from most UK airports is excellent with daily flights via Oslo. Also known as the Paris of the North, Tromsø offers superb hotels, a picturesque harbour frontage, fine restaurants and lively bars.

This region is a photographer’s dream in spring summer and autumn... sea fishing is the finest imaginable... ideal from February through to October. The halibut potential in November/December is huge (a fish over 700 pounds was landed in October!).

In addition to fantastic sea fishing where huge cod, halibut, wolf fish, coalfish and haddock are common, the wildlife and scenic splendours will amaze you. Sea trout fishing is also available.  There are whales to be seen, sea eagles soar along the coastline, reindeer feed on the mountain slopes and a wealth of sea birds take advantage of the rich harvest these arctic waters support.This is the land of the midnight sun, a place where to sun never sets from May right into early August. Even the months of April and September experience long periods of daylight.

Experience the true taste of Northern Norway on the Troms Explorer, a fully skippered, purpose built catamaran based at Arnøy. Prime tides should ensure record breaking catches. Cod in excess of 50 pounds on trips is not uncommon. Lots of wolf fish and big halibut too.

The Troms Explorer: Specifically designed by Rod Baker of Power Catamarans, this 43 foot catamaran has been created to cater for our demanding requirements including charter boat hire, catamaran hire, fishing holidays, whale watching and northern lights weekend breaks just to name a few.

Powered by twin Iveco 280 turbo diesel engines, this unique boat will cruise effortlessly at 24 knots. The hull design allows optimum stability and at cruising speed it offers minimal resistance providing a 30% greater operational efficiency.

Troms Explorer specifications:
• Length 43 foot 6 inches. Beam 16 foot 6 inches. Draft 4 foot.
• Standard Horizon has been chosen for all onboard navigation electronics including: Echo sounder, Global Positioning System with electronic charting, Radar, 2 VHF, satellite compass, autopilot, rudder indicator.
• A spacious saloon with seating for 12, sleeping for 6 all plus 2 crew.
• DVD/TV, equipped galley, 2 shower/toilets, dry room, ample storage. Fridge/freezer, cooker, microwave, sink.
• One side walk around deck (Spacious Port and Stern deck area).
• Large freshwater and septic tanks. Substantial diesel tanks for long range potential.
• 7 kw Onan generator.
• Life raft for 16 persons and full MCA Code safety standards.

Accommodation: Lauksletta House, Arnøy Island, is located in a sheltered fjord overlooking Laukoy Island approx. 300m from the harbour where Troms Explorer is moored.  This lovely country house  has as a fine reputation for gourmet food.  Bedrooms are comfortably furnished with (plentiful) shared bathrooms and toilets. Meals are taken in the fully licensed dining room which has scenic mountain views. Self-catering accommodation is also available. Each cottage has two bedrooms with up to three beds. Apartments can sleep from four to six persons. Shops, bar and restaurant a 12 minute walk away.
