Para-gliding is a common sport on the beaches of Cyprus. Most of the holiday centres will offer the thrill of being hoisted aloft under a canvas canopy. It looks scary but holidaymakers of all ages take a deep breathe and sail away over the inshore waters. The modern parachute, looking like an inflated Lilo, allows para-gliders to rise almost vertically from a standing position with very little forward speed. Here on the beach at Ayia Napa one of our visitors is quickly lifted high above the heads of watching sun worshippers.
