With 8 fishing waters covering a total length of over 60 kilometres on 4 different rivers in East Tyrol and Upper Carinthia fly fishers have a really great variety to choose from, ranging from mountain stream to wide river. This is of course a challenge to the fly fisher, but it is also a guarantee that he can enjoy his fishing holiday even in bad weather. There is always somewhere he can fish. Thanks to a cautious stocking policy and restrictive catch measures there is a regular number of strong, healthy fish.

The Kalser Valley - The Nationalpark-Hotel Taurerwirt
Surrounded by oxygen-rich, crystal-clear mountain streams, the village lies at the foot of the Großglockner mountain. Above the village, at the foot of the Daba Gorge, we find the Nationalpark-Hotel Taurerwirt. The centre for trout fishing in the vicinity, it makes an ideal accommodation for fly anglers and their families. With extremely comfortably furnished rooms, the Taurerwirt Inn contains a sauna, solarium, swimming pool, a fitness centre, tennis courts, adventure playground and recreation park. The innkeeper and hotel's mountain guide offer a variety-filled sports and social programme including hiking tours with carefully selected degrees of difficulty. Would you like to fish one of the most beautiful alpine valleys, on a romantic stream of clean, clear water? This Pension is in St. Veit i. Defereggen, in the Eastern Tyrol (further details here). I am the owner of the Upper Schwarzach (fishing stretching 18km from the source) and two tributaries teeming with trout and rainbow trout. 5 comfortable twin-bedded rooms with shower/toilet and telephone; breakfast buffet.
